PSpice User Guide Importing Spice Models October 2019 856 Product Version 17.4-2019 © 1999-2019 All Rights Reserved. Introduction Usually, the Spice models downloaded from a Vendor's web site cannot be used directly in PSpice. This document covers the steps to be covered before you can successfully use the downloaded models for designing your circuits. Before you can use the simulation models downloaded from a web site in your design, you need to perform following steps: ■ Importing text models ■ Generating Part Symbols ■ Configuring new model library Importing text models To import the downloaded Spice models into PSpice, you need to perform the following steps. 1. Rename the downloaded model to have the .MOD extension. Note: Renaming is required only if the downloaded model does not have a .MOD extension. For example, renaming will be required if the download model has a .txt extension. 2. Launch the Model Editor. 3. Open a new or your custom model library. 4. From the Model menu, choose Import. 5. In the Open dialog box, select the downloaded model with the .MOD extension and select Open. Note: Only the first model in the .MOD file is imported. Therefore, it is recommended that the .MOD file should not have more than one model. 6. From the file Menu, choose Save As. In the Save As dialog box, specify the name and location of new model library as \tools\Pspice\library \userlib. Note: It is preferable to create you own USERLIB library folder
