Fields/Characters Names ■ The default internal name length for new designs has increased from 32 to 255. ■ Material name length has increased from 19 to 255 characters. ■ Padstack user mask layers has increased to 32. Shortcut Keys The following keyboard shortcuts, which are used for standard Windows functions, cannot be used to create user-defined shortcut keys. ■ Ctrl + Z ■ Ctrl + S Class and Subclass Changes ■ New subclasses added for Rigid Flex and Surface Finishes to symbols. Symbols with Rigid Flex and Surface Finishes subclasses cannot be opened in old releases. ■ Geometry Subclass, Design Outline added This class replaces the legacy Board Geometry – Outline subclass.Contiguous, shape based outline is supported, but multiple design outlines are not supported. This change was necessary to support design rule checks, cross-section by zone, inlay material sections, and for future enhancements.Uprev of 16.6 databases will have the Board Geometry – Outline converted to a shape on the new Design Outline subclass. Smaller shapes within the Design Outline are converted to shapes on the new Cutout subclass. No objects on the Board Geometry subclasses are deleted during the migration process. Legacy Board Geometry – Outline class/subclass will be retained in database. IDF In and IDX In will write to the new Design Outline and Cutout subclasses, respectively. ❑ Design Outline and Cutout subclasses are preferred subclasses for generating IDF, IDX, and artwork outputs. ❑ If no shape is defined on the Design Outline and Cutout subclasses, set environment variable allegro_legacy_board_outline in the user preferences settings to use legacy Board Geometry – Outline class/subclass. IDX Out and IPC2581 will fail if no Design Outline is present.
