Paths in scripts must be updated. ■ If you run batch programs using the cmd.exe or .bat files, a batch file, allegro_cmd.bat, is provided in the hierarchy (\tools\bin) to update the PATH variable. Modify your batch file to include \tools\bin\allegro_cmd.bat. Files There are changes for the following: ■ Downrev ■ Database ■ Techfiles ■ Binaries Downrev ■ Files saved in 17.4, such as .brd,.mcm,.sip, and .pad cannot be downreved to 16.x versions. ■ You can no longer uprev pre-16.0 techfiles that have a.tech file extension. Database ■ Allegro database has migrated to 64-bit. ■ Working memory size has increased from 4GB to 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 (18 quintillion). ■ Maximum database size has increased from 400MB to 3GB on Windows, and from 600MB to 3GB on Linux. ■ 400 potential new user subclasses are possible with the addition of Rigid-Flex and Surface classes. ■ Windows Vista and XP are no longer supported. Techfiles ■ Legacy Technology Files (.tech) are not compatible with 17.4.
