I want to edit a component that resides in my shared workspace and distribute the updated component to other designers on my team - How can I accomplish this?

Answer

To change an existing component in the shared workspace, do the following steps:

  1. Open a schematic design in OrCAD X Capture CIS.
  2. Go to Place > Component. It opens the Component Explorer tab.
  3. Right-click the component that you want to change and choose Edit. <
  4. In the Publish Part dialog box, set My Workspace as the Target Workspace. Click OK.
  5. Once it gets added to the local workspace, the Lock Status and Lock Owner fields will be updated to reflect the status of the component.
  6. As the component is now copied to the local workspace, you can start editing the component.
  7. After making the required changes to the component, you must Publish the component back to the shared workspace.
  8. After publishing, the component will be updated with the changes in the shared workspace. The version number of the component will get modified, and it will get unlocked, as shown below.
