Validating Symbol- to-Footprint Mapping No matter how perfect your schematic or how carefully you route, if a component's footprint or pinout is wrong, your board will fail in manufacturing or bring-up. Symbol-to- footprint mapping errors are a leading cause of first-pass board failures, even among experienced engineers. Mistakes here can cause shorted or open pins, reversed polarity, mounting or solderability problems, and expensive delays for hand-mods or respins. This validation is your first defense against such "unfixable" errors.
