Performing Design Rule Checks (DRC) and Electrical Rule Checks (ERC) Iteratively Design Rule Checks (DRC) and Electrical Rule Checks (ERC) are your primary defense against manufacturing defects, assembly problems, and electrical failures. Waiting to run these checks until the very end of a project often results in an overwhelming number of violations, many of which may be complex to fix after placement and routing are complete. Iterative checking (running DRC/ERC throughout the design process) catches mistakes early, prevents errors from compounding, and helps ensure a first-pass success in fabrication and bring-up.
