Reviewing Silkscreen and Markings for Readability and Clarity Silkscreen markings (component designators, polarity marks, pin one indicators, reference symbols, and logos) are essential for assembly, inspection, troubleshooting, and rework. Illegible, misplaced, or omitted markings cause confusion, increase assembly errors, slow down debug, and make servicing difficult. Silkscreen should always aid, never hinder, the work of everyone handling your board.
