LAB 2: Assigning IPC-2581 SPECs to a Database Object
In this example, the Impedance_50 SPEC created earlier in Module 1 will be attached
to the CLINEs that are designated as impedance-controlled traces for identification
purposes for the PCB Fabricator.
1. In the open PCB Editor main menu, go to Edit > IPC2581 Specs.
2. In the Find tab of the Allegro PCB Editor, set the Find Filter to only select
Clines.
3. The impedance-controlled nets have been highlighted in the design. Group-
select the highlighted clines. In the Edit IPC2581 Specs form, the list of available
IPC SPECs that can be associated to clines is displayed. In this example, the
Impedance_50 SPEC can be attached to the selected clines. Select the
Impedance_50 entry to add it to the assignment list.
4. Select the Info box to display the SPEC properties and values. Select OK to
close the information popup.
5. Select the Apply button. The Show Specs form displays the assigned SPECs to
the drawing.
