Page 13 LAB 2: Creating an object SPEC IPC-2581 SPECs can be attached to various objects in the design drawing to identify the critical aspects of an object. Manufacturers prefer to know the specific traces in a design under impedance control. In this example, a SPEC will be created for a 50-ohm impedance (+/- 3% Tolerance) tag to be assigned later to clines in the board drawing. This tag will be exported in IPC-2581 to indicate to the manufacture the specific traces on each layer, which require the controlled impedance. 1. From the PCB Editor menu, go to Setup > IPC Spec Definitions. 2. Add a SPEC definition using the name as IMPED_75. 3. For the new IMPED_75 SPEC: a. Set Data Elements to Clines. b. Spec Type: Impedance c. Sub Type: IMPEDANCE d. Select Add.
