Demonstration of impedance characterization process for the PCB-level power distribution network, first added with an ideal capacitor and then a real capacitor between the power-ground planes; analyzing impedance characteristics in terms of the resonant frequencies; step-by-step process of impedance characterization of a real capacitor, using PowerSI as a circuit simulator; refining a frequency range, using the Frequency Resampling function; analyzing interaction of the impedances of the real capacitor and open cavity and computing total loop inductance corresponding to parallel resonant frequency of the cavity added with the real capacitor.
